I created this painting after watching a documentary called Cudandera. I connected with the main subject of the film. I connected with her path of conflict, lonelyness, and ultimate spiritual awakening. The woman is from Brazil, and visiting a Cudandero from Peru to educate herself on becoming a healer and a cudandera. After enduring childhood abuse, both parents abandoning her, all kinds of trauma, then leaving the Amazonia jungle for New York city she finds herself more empty, and lost. Her friend says before you kill yourself try this medicine, try ayahuasca. That day the old version of herself died. A new version now on a path of healing and living in the light was awakened. This image is a direct image from the documentary. I wanted viewers to see what a new spirit that is awakening looks like. I am on my awakening path, and this painting is a constant reminder to stay on that new life path in the light no matter how far you are now you can change, and find happiness in life. Size of original acrylic painting is 16x20"
